The Staff House Bed & Breakfast with Moai Yoga is situated on the Winnipeg River next to Natalie Lake between the fantastic Whiteshell Provincial Park and the lovely rolling farmland of the R.M. of Whitemouth. It is a short walk along a quiet wooded trail to Whitemouth Provincial Park and Whitemouth Falls. This is a great picnic area and home to many white pelicans during the summer.
The TransCanada Trail is right out our front door, while beautiful Seven Sisters hiking trails are right out back where you can walk, ski or cycle. Take a refreshing dip in the cooling waters of Natalie Lake while listening to the thunderous roar of water dropping 20 meters over the spillway by the Seven Sisters hydro dam. Cycling, fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling and much more, it is all here for you to enjoy or just come to relax, read a book or meditate by the lake. You have many choices at The Staff House. This area, at the forks of the Winnipeg and Whitemouth Rivers, is sacred to many who cherish our native history. Within the boundaries of the Whitemouth Provincial Park reside native burial grounds and ancient artifacts. The Seven Sisters Power Dam is the largest on the Winnipeg River and just a two minute walk from the house. Historically significant and great for evening sunsets too!
Eastern Manitoba offers exceptional recreational activities all within a few minutes drive or our Bed & Breakfast. The Whiteshell Provincial Park has many wonderful hiking trails, swimming beaches and natural features to explore. The Petroforms are just a 20 minute drive from here. There is a boat launch at Big Creek for fishing access to the Winnipeg River and it’s many lakes. Golf in Pinawa or Granite Hills is just a few minutes drive. Tubing or canoeing the Pinawa Channel is a favourite activity in summer. A new water park is opening in Pinawa this summer.
Yoga in the Moai Yoga Studio is available by booking with Fran before or during your visit. She is a trained yoga instructor with many years experience in classical hatha yoga, restorative yoga, chair yoga and pilates. Call her to discuss your needs at 204-254-6889.
Rick is a retired teacher, woodwork instructor and avid photographer, Fran is a trained pastry chef, baker, certified yoga instructor, together we have transformed our home into a bed and breakfast with wellness retreat/yoga studio. We wanted a place where people could come to unplug from the modern world, relax, spend some time in nature and reconnect to what is real.
The yoga studio has been operating since September 2016. Check our website for classes offered and the schedule. Fran also offers customized yoga retreats and homestays on request.
We aspire to share our home and yoga studio with others so that they too can experience the serenity and deep connection to nature that surrounds us here in the hamlet of Seven Sisters Falls.

Reviews on The Staff House B&B:
A Seven Sisters Treasure
While looking for a close by birthday gift get away during this time of “stay vacations”, I came across The Staff House in the village of Seven Sisters. What a find! we have stayed in many B&B’s all over the world and here is this treasure in our own back yard. The house is magnificent, lovingly refurbished, bright and airy, full of antique treasures, and spotlessly clean. We felt warmly welcomed from the moment we stepped in the door. The Willow Room was perfect for us, large and beautifully appointed with a roomy en-suite, complete with the cadillac of showers.
It was great fun to explore the surrounding area of Seven Sisters, hiking the trails, picnicking by the waterfalls, gazing in awe at the powerful dam, and experiencing the ancient Petroforms of Bannock Point.
And the breakfasts! From the delectable fruit cups, the homemade sourdough toast, the main course….what to choose, what to choose!
Thank you Rick and Fran! The Staff House is a treasure.
Excellent weekend stay at The Staff House Bed and Breakfast Manitoba
Booked a 3 night weekend getaway June 2019 in Waters Edge Suite. Excellent place and would love to come back again. Great area to bring bicycles: Trans Canada Trail is literally out the front door and across a grassy yard. Easy gravel/dirt pathways for cycling/walk/hike for entire family.
Entire house is renovated (Natalie Suite nearly done, and 2 more new rooms forthcoming), rooms are brand new, bathrooms new and everything is clean. No noise from renos either.
Hosts asked what we wanted for breakfast the day before each time by running through a list of items and what time we wanted to eat. Typical food options they can make for you are: orange juice, pancakes, cold cereal, oatmeal (side toppings: brown sugar, coconut, raisins, pumpkin seeds), fresh fruit in yogurt bowl sprinkled with granola, bacon/ham/sausage and eggs, coffee, tea, milk, etc., and the signature daily staple is Fran’s toasted homemade sourdough bread (jam and peanut butter on the side). They can accommodate various diets just ask about it.
We were warmly greeted upon arrival just as Fran finished cutting the grass even though we were a few mins early. Coffee/tea station available 24 hrs and homemade cookies were available when we got there. Next day Fran baked a little cake!
They both work really hard on the house renos and it shows with tasteful paint and decor. Bathrooms have in floor heating, towel warmers, and the claw foot tub is 5.5 feet long. Asked if we wanted housekeeping which we declined. We were not really bothered or disturbed by the hosts, and we also had good conversations with them too. They let us borrow their personal bicycles, not usually done, so that was a neat/unexpected bonus. They have a canoe to borrow too. People stay here for weekend getaways, work stays during the week, reunions or weddings, and general tourists. Once 5 rooms are available this would be a great place for an entire wedding party or family to stay. Large common areas to gather, backyard fireplace and gazebo-tent.
Website photos are 95% accurate: they added flat screen TV and satellite in Waters Edge Suite and a nice old wooden dresser/mirror. Bookshelves in common area are crammed with various titles for browsing. Lots of places to sit. Common areas have TV/stereo, and Netflix/Apple TV box. Website indicates homemade yogurt but they don’t make it anymore. They are new B&B owners but with only 2 years or so in business they are seasoned professionals who genuinely want you to have a good time. Rick and Fran are happy to recommend immediate local activities and limited restaurant options. The town site has private property/houses, but there’s no trains or horns, no car traffic, no transport trucks, no hockey teams with kids running everywhere like hotels, no BS.
Honestly a great place to relax and recharge. Operates all year. Would gladly come back for another mini vacation!
Great photo opportunities
The Staff House in Seven Sisters, just a few steps from the powerdam, and a short drive to the Whiteshell Park. Walking across the dam and seeing the amazing view on either side was , well, powerfull! Great breakfast, great hosts! Thank you!
